How long and how frequent are counselling / psychotherapy sessions?

Although it varies between therapists, psychotherapy (or psychoanalysis as it used more commonly to be called) sessions are typically 50 (fifty) minutes long for individuals and 60 (sixty) minutes long for couples.

Typically counselling / psychotherapy sessions are held weekly although this is mainly down to modern time and cost constraints (for example therapy room rentals for therapists, session charges for clients and family or other commitments for both). Besides costs and time constraints, there is no reason why sessions cannot be more frequent if therapist and client agree.
